GRATE FILTER DESIGN
YEAR: 2017
LOCATION: BRITISH COLUMBIA
PROGRAM: PRODUCT DESIGN
STATUS: PROPOSAL
As one of the most humid regions in Canada, Greater Vancouver is known for its wet winter that lasts for nearly half a year. Thanks to our civic drainage system, most of the rainwater is redirected to the ocean without causing a flood in the city. What's also redirected to the ocean, however, is waste such as cigarette butts, plastic bags and leaves.
Our client collaborates with local governments to resolve environmental issues. The goal is to reduce the amount of garbage entering the civic drainage system by introducing a filter, which not only helps solve environmental problems but can also potentially create job opportunities for people with disabilities.
